I Have Used Weight Loss and Fitness for Practical Applications
I am an avid outdoorsman and have trained others to thrive outdoors, from week-long primitive camping to hiking many miles with a backpack. Backpacking is one of my favorite outdoor activities for the challenge of it, the sheer beauty I’ve experienced, and the thrill of seeing wildlife in their habitats. Bears are my favorite to watch in their element, so majestic and surprisingly quiet as they move around.
But to enjoy the fullness of these experiences, you need to get into shape to get the full benefit. Imagine walking up steep inclines and back down rugged paths (and believe me walking downhill isn’t necessarily easy when your legs are drained of energy.) To prepare for long hikes and backpack trips, I put together pre-planned workout sessions to coincide with the actual trip:
- Hitting the gym for weeks before the trip, I would do full-body workouts emphasizing my quads, hamstrings, and calves.
- I would blast my legs with heavy weights on every set two to three weeks before the backpacking trip.
- After about a week, I would back off and allow my leg muscles to repair themselves.
- Finally, when the time came to leave, I couldn’t wait to get into the mountains.
Fitness is essential, and weight (loss) control is super important for people with physical goals they want to accomplish. My health is number one, no matter what, and if I am held back because of my weight, then decisions have to be made. I have experienced adverse effects of weight, and it wasn’t pleasant. I was planning a backpacking trip to New Mexico, and my physician advised me that my blood pressure was a tad too high due to some weight I had let creep up on me. He told me that taking this trip would not be advisable for me “in my present condition.” I decided to put in the time, worked hard in the gym and on my diet to lose those extra pounds, took the trip, and did well on the trail, but it was a close call.
I Have a Love for Helping People
As a kid, I was considered what adults referred to as “Husky” for my height and weight. Growing up in a big Italian family had something to do with this because we all showed our love via food. Whoever prepared the food showed their love by making it the best meal ever, and whoever ate the food showed their love by eating it, and eating it, and eating it.
I had such a finely tuned palate that I wanted to replicate the food that my grandmother made. She was the queen of Italian cooking as far as we all were concerned, and to replicate her food was the ultimate form of respect and love. My biggest problem was that this was terrible for my weight issues. I know the emotions of being teased about being heavy. I understand feeling beaten down and saying, “I quit.” Luckily, I could always get by with my personality and the use of self-deprecating humor to disarm any offenders. But, I could always feel the “not so nice” undercurrent ever-present.
That is why I want to assist people, whatever their goals are, to reach their highest potential. I know my situation is not an isolated one. I took comfort in taking control by working out either at the gym or my home gym. I want to help you take control too whatever your goals are. If you want to maintain your shape or lose those extra inches around the middle, I encourage you to reach those goals.

Ultimately, my goal with creating this website is to help YOU lose weight, get into your best physical shape, and achieve your goals. I’ve been around the weight loss block more than a few times, and I’ve learned a lot of tips and techniques, and my passion is still to constantly research and try new ideas in the Diet and Fitness industry.
So, this is why I created the Pro-Slim Solutions website; whatever your goals are, whether they be losing a considerable amount of weight or strengthening your body so you can do the things you love.
Anyway, that’s my story; I truly hope you get something out of it, and even more than that, I hope you get a lot out of my content that is meant to be instructional, friendly, and ultimately super helpful.
